Cardiomyopathy In Boxers Treatment. Boxer arvc is an adult onset heart muscle disease that can lead to sudden death or the development of congestive heart failure where the dog starts to cough or becomes short of. Note the fibrofatty myocardial infiltration observed histologically.
Although boxers can begin to show outward symptoms clinical signs of this disease at any age it is usually diagnosed in adult dogs. It tends to occur in dogs that are at least two years old although symptoms in dogs as young as six months have been reported. Boxer cardiomyopathy as we know it consists primarily of an electrical conduction disorder which causes the heart to beat erratically to have an arrhythmia some of the time.

Finally some boxers have thousands of vpcs fig. 1 these arrhythmias may be linked to a disease called arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy arvc.
